Thane Tragedy: Mother Arrested for Poisoning Three Daughters

Shocking motive behind mother’s deadly act revealed!

A 27-year-old woman, Sandhya Sandeep Bere, was arrested in Maharashtra’s Thane district for allegedly poisoning her three minor daughters, aged 5, 8, and 10, in a heart-wrenching incident driven by domestic turmoil. The arrests were made around 2 am on Sunday, following autopsy reports that confirmed the presence of poison in the children’s bodies.

On July 20, Sandhya, a housewife from Talepada in Asnoli village, Shahapur, reportedly mixed pesticide into “varan bhat,” a traditional rice and lentil dish, and served it to her daughters. Soon after, the girls suffered severe symptoms, including vomiting and dizziness, and were rushed to a local hospital. As their conditions deteriorated, two were transferred to a Mumbai hospital, where they died on July 24 and 25. The third was admitted to a Nashik hospital and succumbed on July 24.

Initially treated as accidental deaths by Khinavli police, the case took a grim turn when Saturday’s autopsy reports revealed poisoning. Police promptly charged Sandhya with murder. Investigations point to severe domestic strife, including her husband’s alcohol abuse, as a key factor. Having separated from her husband, Sandhya struggled to raise her daughters alone, which police believe drove her to this desperate act.
