Terror Suspect Nabbed in Pulwama for CRPF Camp Attack
Suspect linked to May grenade attack arrested with weapons.
In a significant breakthrough, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district arrested an alleged terrorist, Sakib Reyaz Ganie, suspected of orchestrating a grenade attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp earlier this year. The arrest, confirmed by a police official on Thursday, August 28, 2025, marks a critical step in combating militancy in the region.
The operation unfolded late Wednesday evening during a targeted swipe search in Hari Parigam village, located in the Awantipora tehsil of south Kashmir. Ganie, a resident of Chaki-Cholan in Shopian district, was apprehended following intelligence inputs linking him to the May 20, 2025, grenade attack on the CRPF camp at Lariyar. The attack, which targeted security personnel, had heightened tensions in the area.
During the arrest, security forces recovered a pistol, a magazine, and seven live 9 mm rounds from Ganie’s possession, further solidifying suspicions of his involvement in terrorist activities. The police official stated that Ganie is considered the prime suspect in the May attack, which aimed to disrupt peace and security in the volatile region.

Authorities are now interrogating Ganie to uncover potential links to other militant activities or networks operating in south Kashmir. The seizure of the firearm and ammunition has raised concerns about the availability of weapons among terror operatives, prompting security forces to intensify vigilance in the area.
This arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, where sporadic attacks on forces and civilians continue to pose challenges. Local residents have expressed relief at the suspect’s capture, hoping it will deter further acts of violence.
