“Terror Can Shake Cities, Not Spirits”: Netanyahu Backs India After Delhi Blast
Israel expresses solidarity with India after the deadly Delhi Red Fort blast.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India following the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening. In a heartfelt message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Netanyahu said Israel stands firmly with India in its grief and determination to fight terrorism. The blast claimed nine lives and injured twenty others, leading to heightened security measures across the national capital region.
“To our dear friend Narendra Modi and to the brave people of India: Sara and I, and the people of Israel, send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength at this time,” Netanyahu wrote. He added that India and Israel, both ancient civilizations bound by deep-rooted resilience, continue to face the same threat of terrorism but remain unbroken in spirit. “India and Israel are ancient civilisations that stand on eternal truths. Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls. The light of our nations will outshine the darkness of our enemies,” the Israeli Prime Minister said in his statement.
Investigations into the deadly explosion have linked the attack to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed. According to sources, the group had planned large-scale strikes in the Delhi-NCR region, intending to replicate the 2008 Mumbai-style terror attacks. The suspected targets included the Red Fort, India Gate, Constitution Club, Gauri Shankar Temple, major shopping malls, and railway stations. Officials said at least three doctors—identified as Shaheen Saeed, Muzammil Shakeel Ganale, and Adeel Rather—are in custody for their alleged roles in the conspiracy. Dr Umar Nabi, believed to be the suicide bomber, was killed in the explosion on November 10.

Israeli leaders across political and diplomatic circles also extended their support and condolences. Foreign Minister Gideon Saar wrote, “I extend Israel’s deepest condolences to the people of India and to the families of the innocent victims killed in the blast at the heart of Delhi.” He added that Israel stands shoulder to shoulder with India in its “fight against terror.” Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, also described the scenes from the blast as “heartbreaking” and commended the quick response of rescuers and security forces.
The explosion has prompted a nationwide alert as authorities boost surveillance and security around high-traffic zones, temples, and government complexes. Senior officials said this coordinated terror plot highlights the need for continued intelligence cooperation between India and its global allies, including Israel, to combat cross-border terrorism. Both nations have historically maintained strong defense and intelligence ties, with counterterrorism being a key pillar of their strategic partnership.
