Telangana's Police Solve Murder Case, Arrest Accused Within A Day
Karimnagar police arrest man for murder, recover weapon and evidence.
Police in Telangana's Karimnagar district have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly murdering an agricultural labourer after reportedly watching online videos related to committing murder and preparing weapons. The accused, identified as Bangarapu Mahesh, was arrested within 24 hours of the crime and has been remanded to judicial custody. Investigators said the case was solved swiftly after special teams gathered evidence and questioned the suspect, who allegedly confessed during the investigation.
According to police, the victim, Pytari Mogili, 52, had previously been jailed in connection with an attempted rape case filed by a married woman. After his release, he allegedly continued to harass the woman and frequently humiliated Mahesh, who police said was in a relationship with her. Investigators further alleged that Mogili spread information about their relationship in nearby villages, resulting in repeated disputes between the two families and escalating tensions over several months.
Police said Mahesh allegedly decided to kill Mogili after becoming frustrated by the continued harassment and public humiliation. Investigators claim that before carrying out the attack, the accused searched YouTube for videos related to murder and weapon preparation as part of his planning. Authorities said they later recovered his mobile phone, which allegedly contained the relevant search history and formed part of the evidence collected during the investigation.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Madhavi, the incident took place on Saturday night after Mogili attended the Peerila (Moharram) festival in Madipally village. Police alleged that Mahesh waited near a culvert as the victim was returning home on a bicycle and attacked him from behind with an iron rod. Investigators said the accused struck the victim multiple times on the head, returned home after the incident, changed his blood-stained clothes and fled the area.
Following the murder, police registered a case and launched an intensive investigation. During questioning, Mahesh allegedly confessed to the crime, leading officers to recover the iron rod believed to have been used in the attack, along with his mobile phone, two-wheeler and the clothes allegedly worn during the incident. Officials said the prompt recovery of physical and digital evidence helped investigators solve the case within a day.
Police have produced the accused before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Authorities also said they are considering opening a rowdy sheet against him as part of further legal proceedings. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are continuing to gather additional evidence before filing the final charges in accordance with the law.
