Telangana CM Seeks PM Modi’s Support For Massive Infrastructure Expansion

Telangana CM seeks Centre’s approval for metro, rail and infra projects.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and submitted a detailed memorandum seeking Central government support for a series of major infrastructure and development projects aimed at accelerating the state’s long-term economic growth.

During the meeting held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre (RBCC), the Chief Minister pressed for approval of several flagship proposals, including the long-pending Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project. The ₹38,595-crore expansion plan spans 122.9 km across seven corridors and is expected to significantly enhance urban mobility in the rapidly growing Hyderabad metropolitan region.

Reddy also urged the Centre to establish an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Hyderabad, noting that Telangana remains one of the few major states without an IIM despite housing premier institutions such as IIT Hyderabad, IIIT Hyderabad, and NALSAR. The state government has reportedly offered 200 acres of land for the proposed institute to facilitate its establishment.

In addition to educational infrastructure, the Chief Minister sought approval for several large-scale transport and connectivity projects. These include the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR), the Hyderabad–Amaravati–Bandar Port Expressway, and an elevated corridor between Mannanur and Srisailam on National Highway 765. He also requested clearance for a Regional Ring Rail project and the development of a Central High-Speed Rail Hub near Hyderabad Airport at Shamshabad.

The memorandum further highlighted Telangana’s push for industrial expansion under the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, along with approval for an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Thadiparthy in Ranga Reddy district. The proposed cluster is projected to attract investments of around ₹3,800 crore and generate approximately 9,000 jobs, according to state estimates.

Another key issue discussed was the proposed Tummidihatti Barrage under the Pranahita-Chevella irrigation project. Reddy sought the Prime Minister’s intervention to facilitate discussions with Maharashtra to resolve pending inter-state concerns over design and water-sharing arrangements.

The Chief Minister emphasized that timely approval of these proposals would significantly boost infrastructure development, attract large-scale investment, create employment opportunities, and strengthen Telangana’s position as a key economic hub in southern India.
