Tejashwi Yadav Questions Bihar Govt on Increasing Rape Incidents
Tejashwi Yadav criticizes Bihar NDA govt over rising crimes against women, highlighting Gopalganj infant assault case.
Amid mounting incidents of crime against women in Bihar, RJD National Working President Tejashwi Yadav has launched a scathing attack on the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, questioning its governance and credibility. His remarks come in the wake of a shocking assault on a one-and-a-half-year-old girl in Gopalganj.
Taking to X, Tejashwi Yadav described the situation as “unbearable, painful, frightening, and chilling,” highlighting the daily reports of crimes allegedly occurring under the protection of those in power. He accused the government of focusing on targeting opposition parties instead of ensuring law and order, public safety, education, and healthcare.
The incident in Gopalganj occurred when the toddler, playing near her home, was allegedly assaulted by Mohammad Sarik, a painter from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. Villagers apprehended the accused after hearing the child’s screams, and police intervention prevented mob violence. The accused is currently in custody and denies the charges.

Authorities are treating the case with utmost seriousness. Sadar SDPO Pranjal confirmed that forensic evidence has been collected with the assistance of the FSL team, and a charge sheet is expected to be filed soon to ensure the strictest punishment. Meanwhile, the child remains in critical condition in the emergency ward of Sadar Hospital.
This incident marks the second major criminal case in the same police station area within 24 hours, intensifying public outrage over police effectiveness. Residents have expressed concerns over the adequacy of patrolling and law enforcement, while political tensions in the state continue to rise.
The assault comes on the heels of another high-profile case: the mysterious death of a NEET aspirant from Jehanabad. Opposition parties allege that delays in investigation indicate government complicity, and all eyes are now on the forthcoming SIT report. Public anger and political pressure are mounting as Bihar grapples with a crisis of safety and governance.
