Technical Issue Grounds Akasa Air Boeing 737 MAX at Pune Airport

Akasa Air’s Bengaluru-bound flight QP1312 experienced a serious setback at Pune airport on Tuesday morning when a technical malfunction was detected in the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft just minutes before its scheduled departure. The issue surfaced while the plane was fully prepared for takeoff, compelling airline staff to prioritise passenger safety and immediately halt all boarding and departure procedures, resulting in significant disruption for travellers expecting an on-time morning flight to Bengaluru.

Boarding for the service had begun around 8:10 am, with the aircraft originally slated to depart at 8:50 am. Passengers were comfortably seated inside the cabin and anticipating a routine journey when the technical problem was identified during final pre-flight checks. According to accounts from those onboard, the aircraft remained stationary on the tarmac for nearly one-and-a-half hours as engineers and crew worked to diagnose the fault, creating mounting anxiety and frustration among the waiting travellers.

Once it became clear that the glitch could not be resolved quickly enough to meet safety and regulatory standards for departure, Akasa Air took the decisive step of deplaning every passenger. The disembarkation process was carried out in an orderly manner under the supervision of cabin crew and ground staff, ensuring all individuals were safely escorted back to the terminal building without any reported injuries or incidents during the evacuation.

In an official message circulated to the affected passengers, Akasa Air attributed the cancellation of the original departure time to unavoidable operational reasons and announced that the flight would now depart at 1:15 pm after necessary rectification work and thorough safety inspections had been completed. The airline apologised for the inconvenience and assured passengers that alternative arrangements, including refreshments where feasible, would be provided during the extended wait at Pune airport.
