Suvendu Adhikari Praises Bengal Police For Their Work Amid Challenges
CM appreciates police work despite challenges.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday praised the state police for their efforts despite financial constraints and infrastructure challenges faced by the government. Addressing police personnel at an event held at the Barrackpore Police Training School in North 24 Parganas district, Adhikari acknowledged the difficulties faced by officers while performing their duties and appreciated their commitment.
During the event, where the Chief Minister also had lunch with police personnel, he spoke about the role of the West Bengal Police and highlighted the challenges faced by the force. Adhikari admitted that the state was dealing with financial difficulties and a high debt burden, which had affected resources available for various departments, including the police.
The Chief Minister pointed out the hardships faced by police personnel working in remote areas, including shortages of accommodation, drinking water facilities, logistical support and transportation. He said that despite these limitations, police officers continued to carry out their responsibilities with dedication and discipline.

Adhikari praised the force for its recent achievements in areas such as maintaining law and order, tackling corruption, arresting criminals, strengthening border security and ensuring the safety of women. He said the police had set an example through their work in challenging circumstances and demonstrated their ability to deliver results despite operational difficulties.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the daily struggles of lower-level police personnel and said he was aware of the problems they encounter while serving in different parts of the state. He assured them that the government would work towards addressing their concerns and improving communication between officials and ground-level staff.
Adhikari announced that he would directly engage with lower-ranking police personnel to understand their grievances instead of limiting interactions to senior officers. He said future meetings would include personnel beyond IPS, DG, ADG and IG-level officials, allowing him to hear the concerns and suggestions of those working on the ground.
