Suvendu Adhikari Announces Job Support For 2021 Post-Poll Violence Victims’ Families
Suvendu Adhikari promised jobs for families of victims killed in West Bengal’s 2021 post-poll violence.
West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday announced that he would ensure government jobs and assistance for families of those killed in the 2021 post-poll violence in the state, as well as support for BJP workers who he claimed were victims of political attacks following the Assembly elections.
Addressing a campaign rally in Falta Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district, Adhikari said he would take responsibility for providing employment opportunities to the families of deceased party workers. He also stated that he would extend support to BJP workers affected by alleged post-election violence, calling for accountability and rehabilitation measures for those impacted.
He further instructed the BJP candidate from Falta, Debangshu Panda, to compile a list of party workers in the constituency who were allegedly affected by violence. According to Adhikari, assistance would be provided based on verified names, and he assured supporters that relief measures would be initiated after reviewing the details submitted from the ground level.

The issue of post-poll violence in West Bengal after the 2021 Assembly elections has remained politically sensitive, with the BJP estimating that over 300 of its party workers were killed during the unrest. The ruling Trinamool Congress has repeatedly rejected such allegations, maintaining that law and order was under control and disputing opposition claims regarding the scale of violence.
The remarks also came in the backdrop of heightened political activity in Falta, where repolling has been ordered for May 21 following complaints of alleged irregularities during voting. The Election Commission of India directed fresh polling across the constituency after reports of EVM-related issues and procedural concerns were examined by officials.
With repolling approaching, the constituency has seen increased political mobilisation from both major parties, while legal and administrative processes continue around allegations and counter-allegations related to electoral conduct and post-poll incidents in the state.
