SUV Trapped, Bullets Fly: Sultanpur Police Corner Gang of Criminals
Three dreaded criminals caught after gunfight with police in Sultanpur.
A high-stakes police operation in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, led to the arrest of three notorious criminals following a dramatic encounter. The operation unfolded when police intercepted a white SUV traveling from Jaunpur. The vehicle, carrying six suspects, attempted to evade authorities by diverting toward Murli canal in Lambhua but became immobilized in a pit, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Akhand Pratap Singh.
Surrounded by law enforcement, the suspects opened fire, prompting retaliatory action from the police. Three criminals—Ajay Mona, Jitendra alias Ravindra from Jaunpur, and Monu Raj from Ambedkar Nagar—sustained leg injuries during the exchange and were apprehended. Ajay Mona, a key figure in the group, faces over 50 charges, including murder, robbery, and looting. The remaining suspects managed to flee the scene, and police are actively pursuing them.
Illegal weapons were seized from the arrested individuals, who were promptly taken to the Community Health Centre in Lambhua for medical treatment. Authorities have intensified efforts to capture the escaped accomplices, signaling a continued crackdown on criminal activities in the region.
