SP Gives Rs 6 Lakh Aid to Families of Dead in Tragic UP Road Crashes

Samajwadi Party distributes financial help to families of victims in two fatal road accidents in Gonda.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) extended financial assistance totaling Rs 6 lakh to the families of victims who lost their lives in two separate tragic road accidents in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh. The most recent accident occurred on August 3, when an SUV carrying pilgrims from Siha village in the Motiganj police area plunged into a canal near the Itiyathok police area.

The mishap claimed 12 lives, including women and children, while four others, including the driver, were rescued with injuries. Following a request by local party leaders, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav approved Rs 1 lakh compensation each for the heads of five affected families to help ease their financial burden during this difficult time.

In addition to the recent tragedy, the SP also sanctioned Rs 25,000 each for the families of four victims who died in a separate road accident on the Itiyathok-Khargupur road about a year ago. Local SP leaders handed over the compensation cheques to the bereaved families in Siha village on Saturday.

Arshad Hussain, SP district president, emphasized the party’s dedication to supporting the public in both joyous and sorrowful moments. He assured that the party would continue to work towards raising awareness on road safety and pressing for better infrastructure to prevent such accidents in the future.

The compensation provided by the SP is in addition to the financial aid announced by the central and state governments. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had both announced relief packages for the families of the victims. The Chief Minister’s promised aid of Rs 4 lakh per family has already been disbursed, while the process for releasing funds from the Prime Minister’s relief package is underway, according to local officials.

The collective efforts aim to provide some solace and support to the grieving families as they cope with their losses.
