Similipal Tiger Reserve Closed for President's Visit February 4-6

Similipal Tiger Reserve routes and safaris to close Feb 4-6 for President Droupadi Murmu's visit.

Odisha’s iconic Similipal Tiger Reserve in Mayurbhanj will see partial closures from February 4 to 6 in view of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit, authorities announced. The Kalikaprasad Gate and Gudgudia area will remain off-limits to visitors, and the safari tours in the park will also be suspended during the period.

The President’s six-day tour of Odisha, beginning February 2, will include multiple official engagements in her native Mayurbhanj district and elsewhere in the state. She is scheduled to launch development projects, attend convocation ceremonies, and interact with local communities, highlighting her focus on education, tribal welfare, and infrastructure initiatives.

President Murmu is set to arrive in Bhubaneswar on the evening of February 2 and spend the night at Lok Bhawan. On February 3, her itinerary includes a morning visit to Maa Biraja Temple in Jajpur, followed by the 12th convocation of Fakir Mohan University in Balasore, and an evening visit to the Jagannath Temple in Puri.

On February 4, the President will tour Mayurbhanj district, inaugurating a holiday home at Mahuldiha, visiting a girls’ higher secondary school run by the ST & SC Development Department, unveiling the statue of Bhanj Bir Sunaram Soren, and inaugurating a sports complex at Baidpur. She will also lay foundation stones for multiple local development projects.

Her visit to Similipal Tiger Reserve on February 5 will coincide with a programme at the Rairangpur Jagannath Temple. Safari tours and access to certain areas of the park will remain restricted to ensure security and smooth conduct of official engagements.

The President will conclude her visit on February 6 in Bhubaneswar, where she will interact with women and tribal youth groups before attending a summit. She is scheduled to depart for Chhattisgarh on the morning of February 7, marking the end of her six-day official tour of Odisha.
