Sikkim Mandates Biennial Renewal for Societies, Organisations
Sikkim Societies Face Strict Renewal Rules
The Sikkim government issued a directive requiring all societies, associations, and voluntary organisations registered under the Sikkim Regulation of Societies, Associations and Other Voluntary Organisations Act, 2008, to renew their registration every two years.
The announcement, made via a notification from Law & Parliamentary Affairs Secretary Suraj Chettri, warns that failure to comply within the stipulated period will lead to suspension or cancellation of registration without further notice.
Organisations that have not yet renewed their registration must do so within one month from the notification’s issuance, the directive stated. Additionally, the governing or executive bodies of these entities must exclusively comprise members holding Sikkim Subject Certificates or Certificates of Identification (COI), reinforcing local representation requirements.
The move aims to enhance regulatory oversight and ensure compliance among the state’s voluntary sector.
