Shocker! Severed Cow's Head Placed Outside Temple in Lucknow
Cow Remains Spark Tension in Lucknow; Police, MLA Act Swiftly
Tensions flared in Lucknow’s Madeyganj area on Friday evening after suspected cow remains were discovered outside a temple, igniting outrage among locals. Swift intervention by police and BJP MLA Neeraj Bora of Lucknow North restored calm near Hanumant Nagar Shanti Vatika in Khadra, averting a potential communal flare-up.
The Lucknow Police Commissionerate reported that officers responded promptly after learning of a cow’s head found near the temple under Madeyganj police station limits. “The remains were removed following legal protocols, with religious sentiments in mind,” a police statement said, confirming the situation remains peaceful. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Manisha Singh, in a video statement, detailed how senior officials oversaw the removal process, consulting a veterinary doctor for a post-mortem.
Bora, rushing to the scene, labeled the incident a “major conspiracy to disturb communal harmony,” vowing that the culprits “will not be spared.” Police have launched an intensive probe, analyzing CCTV footage and deploying specialized teams to identify the perpetrators. “Scientific and technical evidence is being gathered for stringent legal action,” the statement added. To maintain order, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and additional police forces have been stationed in the area.
Authorities urged residents to uphold peace, cautioning against rumors or provocative social media posts. “Verify information with local officials before sharing,” police advised, aiming to curb misinformation. The incident echoes similar cases in Uttar Pradesh, where cow-related provocations often test communal harmony. With investigations underway, officials remain vigilant to prevent escalation in this sensitive region.
