Security Tightened in Patiala Schools After Bomb Threat Emails
Bomb threats prompt searches across Patiala schools; nothing suspicious found.
Several schools in Patiala received bomb threat emails on Thursday, prompting an immediate and large-scale response from local authorities. Police, bomb disposal squads, and dog units were swiftly deployed to the affected campuses, while school administrations activated emergency protocols to ensure the safety of students and staff.
As a precautionary measure, police teams cordoned off school premises and restricted access during the operation. Students and staff were moved to secure areas while comprehensive search and sanitisation drives were carried out across classrooms, administrative buildings, playgrounds, and surrounding zones. Officials confirmed that the operations were conducted thoroughly to eliminate any potential risk.
Authorities stated that no suspicious objects had been discovered during the searches so far, though checks were ongoing as a precaution. Police also urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, emphasizing that all necessary safety measures were being followed.

The incident comes amid a series of similar bomb threat emails reported in recent weeks across Punjab and neighbouring Haryana. In most cases, detailed investigations and security checks have found the threats to be hoaxes. Cybercrime teams have been actively working to trace the origin of these messages by analysing email servers and digital footprints.
Earlier this week, multiple schools in Chandigarh also received similar threats, which were later declared false after extensive searches yielded no evidence of explosives. Officials are now examining whether the Patiala threats are linked to these earlier incidents as part of a broader pattern.
Authorities believe the emails may be part of coordinated attempts to create panic and disrupt normal functioning, particularly in educational institutions. Investigations are ongoing, with cyber units examining IP addresses and potential networks behind the messages, while security agencies remain on alert to prevent further incidents.
