Security Tightened in Jammu: Forces Move to Keep Peace Amid Rising Tensions

Massive coordinated raids in Ramban, Kathua, and Rajouri target Pakistan-linked operatives to prevent winter infiltration.

Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Army, CRPF, and Special Operations Group, launched extensive anti-terror cordon and search operations across dozens of locations in Ramban, Kathua, and Rajouri districts on November 9, 2025, targeting local terrorists operating from Pakistan and their overground workers (OGWs). The raids focused on homes of relatives and associates of active militants, aiming to disrupt hideouts as terrorists reportedly shift from higher reaches to plains ahead of winter. Operations in Ramban’s Banihal and Gool areas were supervised by Senior Superintendent Arun Gupta, involving duty magistrates to verify antecedents and tighten security without public inconvenience.

The crackdown extended Saturday’s large-scale questioning of suspects in the Doda district, where scores were detained amid intelligence alerts on potential winter infiltration. Joint teams thoroughly inspected premises for anti-national activities, part of broader efforts to strengthen the security grid and prevent disruptions to peace. Similar drives continued in Kathua and Rajouri, reflecting heightened vigilance across the Jammu region following recent terror incidents.

Police described the operations as preventive and intelligence-driven, urging citizens to report suspicious activities with assured confidentiality for informants. No arrests or recoveries were immediately reported, but the sweeps underscore ongoing commitments to neutralise terror networks supporting Pakistan-based operatives.

As Jammu and Kashmir maintains heightened alert post the revocation of Article 370 and recent elections, these multi-district raids signal a proactive winter strategy to dismantle support systems for militancy, ensuring regional stability amid evolving threats. Officials reiterated that such measures prioritise public safety while minimising disruptions.
