Security Preparedness Reviewed For SANJY-2026 At Pahalgam Meeting Chaired By J&K L-G

Security review meeting for SANJY-2026 held in Pahalgam.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday chaired a high-level security and preparedness review meeting in Pahalgam to assess arrangements for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, which is scheduled to begin on July 3. The meeting focused on ensuring coordinated planning across administrative and security agencies for the annual pilgrimage.

The review meeting was attended by senior officials from civil administration, police, and security forces, including the Principal Secretary to the L-G and CEO of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, along with divisional and district-level officers. Key areas of discussion included logistics, lodging, healthcare services, sanitation, power and water supply, road connectivity, and crowd management systems for pilgrims.

Authorities also examined security arrangements and operational preparedness along both major pilgrimage routes. The L-G reviewed plans for joint control rooms, RFID-based tracking systems, holding areas, langar facilities, footbridge construction, and traffic regulation. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring uninterrupted essential services and maintaining strict safety protocols throughout the Yatra period.

Lieutenant Governor Sinha directed all departments to ensure “foolproof security” and seamless coordination among agencies to provide a safe and well-organised pilgrimage experience. He also highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness, instructing officials to implement weather-based evacuation plans, deploy Mountain Response Teams, and conduct regular inspections of transit camps and fire safety systems.

Briefing the media after the meeting, the L-G said that all arrangements have been finalised in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir administration, security forces, and the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. He expressed confidence that devotees visiting the shrine would experience a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey, adding that local communities are prepared to welcome pilgrims from across the country.
