SBI, HDFC, ICICI Bank Branches Operate Normally On July 4 Across India
Banks operate normally in India on July 4.
Bank branches across India are operating normally on July 4, as it falls on the first Saturday of the month, which is considered a working day under Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines. Customers visiting State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and other lenders can access in-branch services without disruption in most locations across the country.
Under RBI rules, banks remain open on the first, third and fifth Saturdays of each month, while the second and fourth Saturdays are designated as bank holidays. All Sundays are also observed as weekly closures. Since July 4 is the first Saturday, banking operations including customer service counters and branch-level transactions continue as usual.
However, officials note that bank holidays in India can vary by state and Union Territory depending on regional festivals and local observances. This means that while branches are generally open nationwide, some locations may still remain closed if a state-specific holiday is declared. Customers are advised to check with their local branch before planning a visit.

Even on days when physical branches are closed due to regional holidays, core banking services remain largely unaffected. Digital banking platforms, mobile applications, internet banking services, and ATMs continue to operate round the clock. RBI-regulated payment systems such as NEFT and RTGS also remain available, ensuring uninterrupted financial transactions.
Looking ahead, several state-specific bank holidays are scheduled later in July based on regional festivals and observances. These include holidays such as MHIP Day in Mizoram and West Bengal, Beh Deinkhlam in Meghalaya, Ratha Yatra-related closures in Odisha and parts of eastern India, and other regional festivals in states including Manipur, Sikkim and Tripura.
Overall, while July 4 sees normal banking operations across most of the country, customers are advised to stay informed about regional holiday calendars to avoid inconvenience. Despite branch closures on specific dates, India’s expanding digital banking infrastructure ensures continued access to essential financial services throughout the month.
