SAVAGE ENCOUNTER! THREE COPS DEAD, THREE TERRORISTS GUNNED DOWN IN J&K GUNFIGHT
KATHUA BLOODBATH: THREE COPS, THREE TERRORISTS DEAD IN J&K GUNFIGHT FURY
A savage day-long gun battle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district claimed the lives of three policemen and three terrorists on March 27, leaving seven others, including a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), wounded. The clash erupted around 8 a.m. in the dense forests near Jakhole village, Ghati Juthana, as security forces hunted a recently infiltrated group linked to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
The firefight, marked by heavy gunfire and explosions, saw the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police, backed by the Army and CRPF, take on roughly five terrorists. It’s unclear if these were the same militants who slipped an earlier cordon in Sanyal forest days prior. Local youths pitched in, hauling weapons into the gorge where the chaos unfolded. Three terrorists fell in the onslaught, but the operation paused at nightfall, with two more believed trapped—possibly dead—yet unlocated by drones.
The human cost was grim: three policemen died, including personal security officers of the SDPO, who was evacuated late evening. Two other cops and two soldiers were injured, with the former stable in Kathua hospital and the latter moved to a military facility. Special Army troops parachuted in to tighten the noose, spotting two terrorist bodies via drone for retrieval at dawn.
The People’s Anti-Fascist Front, a JeM proxy, claimed the attack. It follows a Sunday clash in Hiranagar, 30 kilometers away, where terrorists dodged a massive multi-agency dragnet. Evidence found Monday—carbines, grenades, and IED materials—points to a Saturday infiltration. DGP Nalin Prabhat and IG Bhim Sen Tuti have led the charge on the ground for days.
