Sarai Kale Khan RRTS Gets Hassle-Free Skywalk Link to Hazrat Nizamuddin
A 280-metre skywalk with six travelators links Sarai Kale Khan RRTS to Nizamuddin station.
A 280-metre skywalk connecting the Sarai Kale Khan RRTS Station with the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station has been completed, marking a key infrastructure upgrade for the capital’s rapidly expanding regional transit network. The elevated walkway, equipped with six travelators, is designed to provide seamless and comfortable passenger movement between the two major transport hubs.
According to reports, the civil construction of the skywalk has been finished, and all six travelators have been installed. Work on the roofing structure is still underway, with authorities expecting the facility to be opened for public use by March. The project is notable as the first station in Delhi developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation to feature travelators for passenger convenience.
Officials say the skywalk is intended to significantly improve interchange efficiency at Sarai Kale Khan, a busy multi-modal transit node. By offering a dedicated pedestrian corridor, the project aims to reduce overcrowding, ease traffic congestion around the station area, and eliminate the long walking distances commuters previously faced while shifting between transport modes.

The Sarai Kale Khan station is among the largest stops on the 82.15-km Delhi–Meerut corridor and is expected to handle heavy passenger traffic in the coming years. Strategically located, it connects with the Sarai Kale Khan Metro (Pink Line), the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, the Veer Haqeeqat Rai ISBT, and city bus services, positioning it as a major mobility hub for the National Capital Region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the final stretch of the corridor on February 22 alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The launch will enable full operations from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram in Meerut and will also mark the start of Meerut Metro services, enabling seamless transfers between high-speed Namo Bharat trains and the city’s intra-urban metro network.
