Salesforce Chief Executive Officer Marc Benioff said he was inspired by his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 summit, where the two discussed the importance of trust in the rapidly evolving era of artificial intelligence. Benioff shared his thoughts on social media, posting a photograph with the Prime Minister and highlighting the need for trusted AI systems as governments and technology companies shape the future of the sector.
The interaction took place during the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, where global leaders and executives from some of the world's leading artificial intelligence companies gathered for a working lunch focused on AI infrastructure, regulation and responsible innovation. The meeting reflected the growing influence of the technology industry in international policy discussions as AI continues to reshape economies and societies.
Sharing his experience on X, Benioff wrote that he was "inspired" by his discussions with Prime Minister Modi on the role of trust in the AI era. In a separate post, he also shared a selfie with Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch, describing their conversations as centred on innovation, growth and the development of trusted AI platforms.

The G7 summit, held from June 15 to June 17, brought together leaders from France, Britain, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States and the European Union. Artificial intelligence emerged as one of the key agenda items, with discussions focusing on governance frameworks, infrastructure development, regulation and measures to protect users, including minors, from the risks associated with rapidly advancing technologies.
The technology meetings also featured several prominent AI industry leaders, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch, Cohere CEO Aidan Gomez, Meta executive Alex Wang and Sarvam AI co-founder Pratyush Kumar. Their participation underscored the increasing collaboration between governments and private companies on issues related to AI development and deployment.
For India, Prime Minister Modi's engagement with global AI executives highlights the country's growing role in international conversations on artificial intelligence governance and responsible innovation. The discussions align with India's efforts to strengthen its domestic AI ecosystem while advocating for trusted, transparent and accountable AI systems capable of addressing challenges such as misinformation, deepfakes and ethical technology deployment.
