RSS Pays Homage to its Critics as Bhagwat Chairs Three-Day Samalkha Conclave
The RSS annual meet opens in Haryana with surprise tributes to ideological opponents.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Friday commenced the three-day meeting of its top decision-making body, the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, in Samalkha, Haryana. The gathering began with tributes to several prominent public figures, including leaders who were ideological critics of the organisation. Among those remembered were senior Congress leader and former Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and veteran Communist leader R. Nallakannu, with RSS leaders acknowledging their contributions to public life.
The meeting is being held at the Madhav Srishti campus in Patti Kalyana village from March 13 to March 15. It has brought together top RSS leaders, senior functionaries, and representatives from its affiliated organisations from across the country. Among those attending are RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and the organisation’s general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, along with hundreds of delegates who are expected to deliberate on organisational matters and key national issues over the three-day session.
The Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha is considered the RSS’s highest decision-making forum and plays a central role in shaping the organisation’s strategy and direction. During the meeting, delegates typically review the progress of activities undertaken over the past year by the RSS and its wide network of affiliated organisations. Discussions often focus on social outreach programmes, ideological work, expansion of organisational units across regions, and coordination among various groups associated with the Sangh.

This year’s meeting assumes additional significance as the RSS approaches its centenary year. Leaders are expected to assess the organisation’s long-term goals while outlining plans for upcoming initiatives and events linked to the milestone. Observers say the deliberations are also likely to touch on contemporary national issues and the role of RSS-linked organisations in social and public life as the Sangh prepares to mark 100 years since its founding in 1925.
