RSS Gurmitkal March Allowed with Ten Strict Conditions in Congress President Kharge’s Constituency

Permission granted amid political tensions in Gurmitkal.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has secured conditional approval to conduct a march in Gurmitkal, the constituency of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, on October 31. Yadgir Deputy Commissioner Harshal Boyer issued the permit with ten stringent stipulations to ensure public order. The procession will commence from Narendra Rathod Layout, proceed through designated circles and temples, and terminate at a predefined location without deviation.

Key restrictions include a complete prohibition on weapons, adherence to the approved route, and avoidance of any slogans or actions that could incite caste or religious discord. Participants are barred from damaging property, disrupting peace, or forcibly closing commercial establishments. Organizers bear full liability for any violations, including potential violence or law-and-order breaches during the event.

This development follows heightened political friction after the Karnataka government mandated prior permission for private organizations to use public premises, a directive perceived by the Bharatiya Janata Party as targeting RSS activities. The order was issued on October 16, shortly after Minister Priyank Kharge advocated restrictions on RSS operations in public spaces.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah subsequently clarified on October 21 that no outright ban exists on the RSS, emphasizing that the directive applies uniformly and does not name the organization. However, the policy faced legal challenge, leading the Karnataka High Court to stay its implementation on October 28 pending further review.

Meanwhile, a separate RSS application for a similar event in Chittapur, represented by Priyank Kharge, remains under consideration. The Gurmitkal march proceeds amid these unresolved tensions, with authorities maintaining vigilant oversight to prevent escalation in this politically sensitive region.
