RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Clarifies Organisation’s Role, Urges Understanding Beyond Politics

RSS chief slams political lens on organisation.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat issued a pointed clarification on Sunday while addressing the RSS 100 Vyakhyan Mala programme in Kolkata, firmly stating that efforts to interpret or analyze the organisation through superficial comparisons with other groups or exclusively via partisan political frameworks inevitably result in deep-seated misconceptions about its core principles, operational philosophy, and long-term societal contributions.

Bhagwat underscored that categorizing the RSS as merely one among many service-oriented entities fundamentally misrepresents its distinct identity and purpose, calling for a direct and unfiltered appreciation of the Sangh's unique role in fostering cultural revival, character building, and national integration without the distortions introduced by external analogies.

The RSS leader explicitly highlighted the prevalent error of equating or understanding the Sangh predominantly through its perceived connections with the Bharatiya Janata Party, describing this narrow viewpoint as a significant blunder that ignores the organisation's autonomous existence, broader ideological foundations, and commitment to transcending electoral politics.

As part of the ongoing centenary celebrations, Bhagwat had previously graced a Prabuddha Nagarik Sammelan in Siliguri that drew over a hundred distinguished citizens from diverse professional and social spheres across North Bengal districts and neighboring Sikkim, followed by a dedicated Youth Conference where he meticulously outlined the RSS's century-long evolution and relentless dedication to nurturing ethically strong swayamsevaks for holistic societal advancement.

In these engagements, Bhagwat passionately advocated the cultivation of "sajjan shakti" through selfless service rooted in timeless values, dispelled lingering myths about the organisation, and emphasized reclaiming India's ancient Sanatan heritage alongside promoting self-reliance as indispensable pillars for robust education systems, enhanced national security, and sustainable progress in modern India.
