Revanth Reddy Meets Rahul Gandhi Amid Controversy Over Natarajan Nomination Rejection

Revanth Reddy discusses Telangana issues with Rahul Gandhi as Congress examines nomination controversy.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Thursday, discussing issues related to Telangana’s development as well as matters concerning the Congress party. The meeting comes at a time when the party is dealing with internal questions surrounding the rejection of senior Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination from Madhya Pradesh.

Following the meeting, Revanth Reddy shared details on social media, describing the interaction as “energising and inspiring.” He said discussions focused on Telangana’s development priorities and added that Rahul Gandhi’s guidance and feedback would continue to shape the party’s efforts in the state. The meeting underscored the close coordination between the Telangana leadership and the Congress high command.

The development has drawn attention because it follows controversy over the rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination. Election authorities reportedly rejected her nomination after citing the omission of details relating to a case pending before the Telangana High Court in her affidavit. The issue subsequently triggered political debate, with BJP leaders in Madhya Pradesh alleging that documents related to the case had been sourced from within the Congress party in Telangana.

The Congress leadership has reportedly taken the matter seriously and constituted a committee to determine whether there was any internal sabotage. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has also sought a report from the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee regarding allegations that documents connected to the case may have been leaked by party insiders. Rahul Gandhi is understood to have closely monitored the developments, as Natarajan was considered his preferred candidate for the Rajya Sabha election.

Adding to the controversy, Natarajan has been named as one of the respondents in a harassment-related case filed by a woman Congress leader in Hyderabad against another party member. Court notices linked to the case resurfaced publicly after her nomination was rejected, bringing renewed attention to the legal proceedings. Natarajan has previously submitted a counter-affidavit denying any wrongdoing and maintaining that her inclusion in the complaint was motivated by mala fide intent.

Meanwhile, the woman who filed the complaint expressed disappointment over the rejection of Natarajan’s nomination and alleged that an aide to a senior Congress leader had collected documents related to the case from the court earlier this month. While she declined to identify the leader involved, she claimed that court surveillance footage could verify the allegation. As the controversy continues, Congress leaders are expected to await the findings of the internal inquiry before taking any further action.
