Revanth announces Vikarabad temple development on Yadadri model.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to develop Vikarabad as a major tourism hub under the state’s Tourism Hub Development Scheme and instructed authorities to upgrade the Veerabhadra Swamy temple in the district on the lines of the Yadadri temple development model. The Chief Minister said a dedicated committee should be formed to oversee the temple's transformation and ensure planned development.
Revanth Reddy issued the directions during a review meeting on tourism development held at the Bodhi Pavilion in the MCR HRD Institute in Hyderabad. He asked officials to accelerate the development of tourism infrastructure across Telangana, with a special focus on eco-tourism, heritage conservation and the creation of urban forests. The Chief Minister said improving tourism facilities would help attract visitors while supporting local economic growth.
During the meeting, Revanth reviewed several tourism projects and instructed officials to develop Vikarabad into a prominent destination by improving infrastructure and visitor facilities. He said the Veerabhadra Swamy temple should receive special attention and be developed following the successful model adopted for the Yadadri temple, which underwent extensive redevelopment to enhance religious tourism and improve amenities for devotees.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to transform Taramati Baradari into a premier tourism destination by upgrading facilities and improving the overall visitor experience. He said Durgam Cheruvu should be developed into a full-fledged tourist attraction equipped with world-class infrastructure. Additionally, officials were instructed to modernise the Manjeera and Dilkusha guest houses to improve hospitality standards and provide better accommodation facilities for tourists.
Revanth Reddy emphasised the importance of integrating environmental conservation with tourism development. He directed the Forest and Tourism departments to work together to develop forest department lands within the Comprehensive Urban Resilience and Environment (CURE) limits as eco-tourism destinations. He suggested that eco parks across Hyderabad should be developed on the lines of the Gurranguda Eco Park model to provide residents and visitors with more green recreational spaces.
The Chief Minister further instructed officials to develop forest lands in the proposed Future City project into international-standard urban forest destinations. He called for the appointment of a special officer to speed up the implementation of urban forest projects and ensure effective coordination among departments. The Telangana government aims to expand tourism infrastructure by combining heritage, environmental conservation and modern facilities to position the state as a major tourism destination.
