Retired Bureaucrats Dominate Race For First CEO Post Of Ram Temple Trust

Retired officials lead race for Ram Temple CEO.

A large number of retired bureaucrats are among those who have applied for the newly created post of chief executive officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, according to sources involved in the recruitment process. The application window for the position closed on Saturday, with the Trust receiving a strong response from candidates seeking to oversee the administration of the Ram Temple. The newly created CEO role is aimed at strengthening the Trust’s administrative structure, improving financial oversight, and ensuring smoother day-to-day management of temple operations.

The appointment comes amid efforts to enhance accountability following allegations of irregularities related to temple donations, which had prompted discussions over the need for stronger monitoring mechanisms. According to sources associated with the selection process, several former government officials have shown interest in the position. The eligibility criteria allow serving government officers in their final two years of service, retired bureaucrats, and qualified professionals from the private sector to apply for the role.

A senior member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said there had been significant interest in the recruitment process. The official said several applicants had directly sent their resumes to Trust members, but they were redirected to the expert panel responsible for reviewing applications. “There is certainly a huge response. Many applicants also forwarded their resumes directly to us, but we returned them, asking that they be sent to the expert panel, which alone is authorised to scrutinise applications before recommending names to the Trust,” the Trust member said.

The CEO will play a key role in managing the administrative responsibilities of one of India’s most prominent religious institutions. The position is expected to involve overseeing financial systems, coordinating various departments, implementing operational plans, and ensuring transparency in the functioning of the Trust. The recruitment process is being handled through an expert panel that will evaluate applications and recommend suitable candidates to the Trust.

The final appointment will be made after considering the panel’s recommendations and the requirements of the organisation. The creation of the CEO post reflects the Trust’s move towards adopting a more structured administrative framework as the Ram Temple attracts increasing numbers of devotees from across India and abroad. With large-scale visitor management, infrastructure maintenance, donations, and religious activities requiring coordination, the role is expected to carry significant responsibilities.

Retired bureaucrats are often considered suitable for such administrative positions due to their experience in governance, financial management, and handling large organisations. However, the Trust has also kept the process open to private-sector professionals with relevant expertise. The appointment of the first CEO is expected to mark a new phase in the institutional development of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The selected candidate will be responsible for helping establish systems that balance religious responsibilities with modern administrative practices.
