Red Fort Blast Update: Bihar On High Alert Ahead of Final Poll Phase
Bihar on high alert after deadly Delhi Red Fort car blast kills 13, intensifies security for final election phase tomorrow.
With the final phase of Bihar’s assembly elections set for November 11, the state has been placed on high alert following the deadly car explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi. The state’s security apparatus has gone into overdrive, with police across all districts instructed to maintain maximum vigilance, intensify patrols, and monitor public gatherings closely. The move comes amid heightened concerns about potential spillover effects from the national capital’s tragedy.
Director General of Police Vinay Kumar confirmed that all wings of the Bihar Police, including the Special Branch and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), have been asked to stay on continuous watch. “A high-security alert has been sounded across Bihar following the explosion near the Red Fort. All district police have been directed to maintain a close watch and extraordinary vigil to thwart any attempt by anti-national elements,” he said. Police teams have also increased surveillance at railway stations, airports, and polling booths.
Officials in Patna said that intelligence coordination has been stepped up with central agencies such as the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) to track any cross-state movement of suspects. A statewide review of security deployments is underway, with senior officers personally monitoring sensitive areas in districts like Gaya, Purnea, and Bhagalpur.

The Delhi blast, which took place near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, involved a car that burst into flames, leaving multiple vehicles gutted. The incident has raised nationwide alarm, especially with a major haul of explosives recently recovered in nearby Faridabad, adding to fears of broader terror activity. As investigations by the NIA and Delhi Police continue, authorities are treating the explosion as a potential terror attack.
Meanwhile, Bihar’s Election Commission has reiterated its commitment to ensuring smooth and secure polling in the state’s final phase. Additional central paramilitary forces have been deployed, and polling officials have been instructed to remain on alert until further notice. With security tightened and intelligence inputs being continuously assessed, Bihar remains on edge as it braces for the crucial last leg of the election process.
