RBI Calendar: Banks Closed on Second Saturday February 14 Across India
Banks across India remain closed on February 14 as a second Saturday holiday.
Bank branches across India will remain closed on Saturday, February 14, as the date falls on the second Saturday of the month, according to the official holiday calendar issued by the Reserve Bank of India. The closure applies to all scheduled and non-scheduled commercial banks in every state and Union Territory.
With February 14 being the second Saturday and February 15 falling on a Sunday, customers should note that physical bank branches will remain shut throughout the weekend. Authorities have advised customers to plan important banking work in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
The central bank releases a detailed holiday calendar at the beginning of each year to inform the public about bank closures. These holidays typically include national observances, regional festivals, all Sundays, and the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. The RBI categorises bank holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays, and banks’ closing-of-accounts holidays.

Apart from the weekend shutdown, several region-specific bank holidays are scheduled later in February. These include Losar in Sikkim on February 18, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti in Maharashtra on February 19, and Statehood Day celebrations in Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on February 20. Banks will also remain closed on February 22 (Sunday) and February 28 (fourth Saturday).
There will be no additional nationwide bank holiday for Maha Shivratri this year, as the festival falls on Sunday, February 15. Despite branch closures, customers can continue to access banking services through digital channels such as ATMs, internet banking, mobile apps, and UPI platforms, which will operate normally during the holidays.
