Ramya Demands Justice for Community Dogs Allegedly Seized and Bound at Bengaluru DRDO Campus
Ramya joined protesters at Freedom Park demanding justice for dogs allegedly seized from the DRDO campus.
Actor-politician Ramya broke down in tears during a protest at Freedom Park, as outrage grew over the alleged mistreatment of community dogs in the city. The emotional moment came as activists and residents gathered to demand justice and accountability, turning the demonstration into a powerful public outcry against cruelty toward animals.
The protest was organised by local animal welfare groups, including the CV Raman Nagar Animal Squad, and saw participation from residents, volunteers, and legal experts. Demonstrators called for strict action against those responsible and urged authorities to follow established animal protection laws. The gathering highlighted growing concerns over the treatment of stray and community dogs in urban spaces.
The issue stems from an incident reported on March 5 at the Defence Research and Development Organisation Phase 2 campus in Kaggadasapura. Residents reportedly intercepted a vehicle inside the premises and discovered dogs tied up with their legs and mouths bound. The animals were allegedly stuffed into plastic bags and gunny sacks, sparking shock and anger among locals.

While the rescued dogs were saved in time, activists claimed that more than 20 other dogs from the campus had gone missing. This raised serious concerns about the scale of the operation and whether more animals had been subjected to similar treatment. The allegations have intensified demands for a thorough investigation and accountability.
As emotions ran high, Ramya’s visible distress underscored the gravity of the issue and amplified calls for justice. Protesters insisted that such actions must not go unpunished and stressed the need for stronger enforcement of animal welfare laws. The incident has since triggered widespread debate on humane treatment and protection of community animals in cities like Bengaluru.
