Raksha Bandhan: Women From Diverse Groups Tie Rakhis To Gujarat CM Patel

Women from different communities and sections of society tied rakhis to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar on Thursday as part of Raksha Bandhan celebrations. The gathering brought together women associated with social and charitable organisations, the Brahma Kumaris and groups working for persons with disabilities from different parts of the state.

The women offered prayers for Patel's good health and long life and conveyed their blessings and good wishes on the occasion. Patel welcomed the participants and accepted the rakhis and greetings during the programme. The event centred on the traditional significance of Raksha Bandhan while also highlighting the participation of women representing diverse sections of Gujarat's society.

According to a statement issued after the programme, Patel reaffirmed his commitment to the holistic development and safety of women across Gujarat. The gathering provided an opportunity for representatives of various organisations to participate in the festival at the state government's official residence. The exchange of rakhis and blessings remained the central feature of the celebrations.

Minister of State for Education Rivaba Jadeja, Gandhinagar Mayor Miraben Patel and MLAs Ritaben Patel, Nimishaben Suthar and Payalben Kukrani attended the event. BJP national vice-president Varshaben Doshi and Gujarat BJP Mahila Morcha president Anjuben Vekariya were also present, along with representatives from different fields and senior government officials.

The participation of women from social organisations, charitable institutions and groups representing persons with disabilities added a wider community dimension to the Raksha Bandhan programme. Their presence reflected the involvement of different sections of society in the celebrations held at Lok Bhavan. The event also highlighted the traditional exchange of affection and blessings associated with the festival.

Raksha Bandhan is traditionally celebrated to honour the bond between brothers and sisters, with sisters tying a rakhi around their brothers' wrists as a symbol of affection and protection. In Gujarat, women from different parts of the state joined the celebrations at Gandhinagar, marking the festival through the traditional ceremony and extending their greetings and blessings to the Chief Minister.
