Rajnath Singh Visits Subramanya Swami Temple In Tamil Nadu, Shares Experience
Rajnath Singh visits Tamil Nadu temple and feels spiritually blessed.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday visited the historic Subramanya Swami Temple in Tiruchendur, where he offered prayers and described the experience as spiritually uplifting. The visit came amid his ongoing political engagements in Tamil Nadu ahead of the state Assembly elections.
After the temple visit, Rajnath Singh shared his experience on social media platform X, stating that he felt “blessed to experience the divine energy” of the ancient shrine. The temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and is considered one of the six sacred abodes of the deity.
The Subramanya Swami Temple holds special significance in Hindu tradition and is uniquely located along the seashore in Thoothukudi district. Unlike the other five major Murugan temples, which are situated on hilltops, this temple faces the Bay of Bengal, where sea waves from the Gulf of Mannar are said to naturally touch its surroundings, adding to its spiritual prominence.

Rajnath Singh’s visit forms part of a broader political tour in Tamil Nadu, where he is actively campaigning for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for April 23. The Defence Minister has been addressing multiple rallies and public meetings across southern districts, seeking support for NDA candidates.
On April 19, Singh had also reiterated the Union government’s commitment to implementing 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and state Assemblies. Speaking at an election rally in Vasudevanallur, he said the government remains determined to pass the women’s reservation bill at the earliest opportunity, linking it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long-term policy pledge.
Singh further stated that the bill faced opposition in Parliament, naming several political parties during his remarks. The issue of women’s reservation has become a key talking point in the ongoing election campaign, with the NDA highlighting it as part of its governance agenda.
The Defence Minister’s Tamil Nadu tour has included a packed schedule of rallies and roadshows across multiple constituencies, including Radhapuram in Tirunelveli district and Puliyangudi in Tenkasi district. His campaign activities are part of a larger effort by senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who have also been actively canvassing support for the alliance in the state.
