Rajnath Singh To Review Air Force Academy Graduation Parade In Hyderabad Today
Air Force Academy parade marks cadet commissioning ceremony.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to review the Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) of the 217 Course at the Air Force Academy (AFA) in Dundigal, Hyderabad, on Saturday. The event marks the culmination of pre-commissioning training for Flight Cadets across various branches of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and allied services. According to the Ministry of Defence, the parade will be conducted with high levels of military precision and ceremonial grandeur.
As the Reviewing Officer, Rajnath Singh will confer the prestigious “President’s Commission” on graduating cadets, formally inducting them into active service. The ceremony will also include the awarding of “Wings” and “Brevets” to cadets upon successful completion of their specialised training. Officers and trainees from the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam are also part of this graduating cohort, reflecting the international and multi-service nature of the programme.
A notable highlight of this year’s ceremony is the commissioning of the first batch of women cadets from the National Defence Academy (NDA), Pune. These cadets, who passed out on May 30, 2025, have completed their branch-specific training at the Air Force Academy and are now set to formally join their respective roles in the armed forces. Their induction marks another milestone in the increasing integration of women into combat and operational roles within the Indian defence services.

The Defence Minister will also present the “President’s Plaque” to cadets who have secured the top positions in the overall order of merit across flying, navigation, and ground duty branches. The recognition is considered one of the highest honours for graduating cadets and highlights exceptional academic and operational performance during training.
The parade will feature a series of military drills and aerial demonstrations showcasing the operational capabilities and discipline of the Indian Air Force. The event is expected to begin with performances by the Akash Ganga skydiving team and the Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT), followed by coordinated fly-pasts led by Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh. Aircraft including the Pilatus PC-7 MkII, Hawk, Kiran, and Chetak trainers will participate in the display.
The ceremony will also include advanced aerial performances by the SU-30 MKI fighter aircraft, the Sarang helicopter display team, and the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT). These displays are designed to highlight precision flying, coordination, and the technological strength of the Indian Air Force, making the graduation parade one of the most significant ceremonial events in the military calendar.
