Rajnath Singh To Address Naval Commanders’ Conference In New Delhi

Defence Minister to address Navy’s apex commanders’ conference.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the Indian Navy’s Commanders’ Conference 2026/02 on Tuesday, outlining his vision for India’s maritime security priorities and expectations from the Navy. The three-day conference will begin at Nausena Bhawan in New Delhi and bring together senior naval leadership for discussions on operational preparedness and strategic priorities.

The second edition of the Navy’s biannual commanders’ conference for 2026 will also be attended by the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of the Army Staff. Both are expected to engage with naval commanders as part of efforts to strengthen jointness, coordination and integration among the three armed services.

The conference serves as the Navy’s apex-level forum, providing senior leadership, including operational and area commanders, an institutional platform to review military-strategic preparedness. The discussions will also cover the Navy’s role in safeguarding India’s maritime interests, with particular attention to energy security amid continuing conflicts in West Asia.

During the conference, the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Commanders-in-Chief will review key areas including operations, logistics, human resources, training and materiel. The induction of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data analysis, autonomous and uncrewed systems, and cyber operations will also feature in the discussions as the Navy seeks to strengthen technology absorption and modernise its capabilities.

The conference will also assess the Navy’s overall preparedness and force requirements, with the leadership focusing on combat readiness and the optimisation of available resources. The discussions will be guided by the three foundational pillars of ‘JAI’ — Jointness, Aatmanirbharta and Innovation — in line with the government’s broader vision of self-reliance and Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Defence Ministry said the Indian Navy continues to maintain a high operational tempo and remains focused on developing as a combat-ready, credible, cohesive and future-ready force. The conference is expected to provide senior commanders with an opportunity to review ongoing priorities and align operational planning with India’s wider maritime security objectives.
