Rajnath Singh and Yogi Adityanath Inaugurate BrahMos Missile Production in Lucknow
Lucknow’s BrahMos unit launches India’s first homegrown missile batch.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the first batch of BrahMos supersonic missiles manufactured at the state-of-the-art BrahMos Aerospace facility in Lucknow on Saturday. The event marks a significant step toward India’s goal of self-reliance in defense manufacturing, bolstering the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC).
The BrahMos Aerospace unit in Sarojini Nagar, inaugurated on May 11, 2025, has successfully produced its inaugural batch of missiles, showcasing India’s advanced capabilities in missile integration and testing. Equipped with cutting-edge facilities, the plant handles the entire production process, from assembly to rigorous quality checks, ensuring the missiles meet the stringent requirements of the Indian armed forces. This milestone strengthens India’s strategic defense preparedness with domestically produced, high-precision supersonic missiles.
The flagging-off ceremony, attended by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, and senior officials, highlighted the collaborative efforts between the central and state governments to promote indigenous defense production. The BrahMos missile, known for its speed and accuracy, is a cornerstone of India’s defense arsenal, capable of being launched from land, sea, and air platforms.
