Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Diya Kumari on Thursday reaffirmed that heritage conservation is a top priority for the state government, with a special focus on historic stepwells and Shekhawati’s iconic havelis. Speaking at a review meeting at Tourism Bhawan, she emphasised that Mandawa will be developed as a model heritage town, showcasing best practices in preservation and restoration.

During the meeting, Diya Kumari reviewed the progress of several ongoing projects, including the tourism mobile app, Amer Master Plan, Pratap Tourist Circuit, Pushkar Corridor, and renovation of Ravindra Rangmanch. She directed officials to adhere strictly to project timelines and ensure their timely completion.

Highlighting stepwell conservation, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan, drawing lessons from successful conservation models nationwide. She also stressed the importance of documenting ongoing heritage preservation efforts, which would serve as a blueprint for future initiatives.

Addressing tourism infrastructure, Diya Kumari called for simplified procedures for land allotment, approvals, licensing, and fire NOCs, enabling the hotel and hospitality sector to contribute more effectively. Discussions were also held on increasing three-star and four-star hotel inventory and improving overall tourist facilities across the state.

She further noted that strengthening connectivity via road, rail, and air transport would significantly enhance tourist inflow, both domestic and international. Efforts are underway to upgrade amenities at key destinations and ensure smooth services even during peak travel seasons.

Concluding the review, Diya Kumari highlighted ongoing initiatives for the preservation of manuscripts and other cultural assets, underlining that Rajasthan’s cultural and architectural heritage forms the backbone of the state’s tourism strategy and global appeal.
