Rahul Gandhi Starts Two-Day Rae Bareli Visit Amid Campaign Duties
Gandhi was warmly received by UP Congress President Ajai Rai and other senior party leaders before proceeding to Rae Bareli by road.
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, arrived in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday for a two-day visit to his Rae Bareli constituency, where he will participate in various programmes and review ongoing developmental projects. Gandhi landed at Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport in Lucknow and was warmly received by Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajai Rai and other senior party leaders before proceeding to Rae Bareli by road.
The visit has generated significant excitement among party workers and locals, with posters featuring Gandhi alongside Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav displayed prominently. The posters bore the slogan "India's last hope, Kalyug's Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh." Rai described the atmosphere as one of "waves of excitement and joy," crediting Gandhi for exposing alleged "vote chori" (vote theft) and inspiring pride across the nation. He noted that the visit has notably boosted the morale of Congress supporters statewide.
According to District Congress president Pankaj Tiwari, Gandhi's itinerary includes a series of engagements:
- A meeting with former party office-bearers in Harchandpur.
- An interaction with members of the Prajapati community at a city hotel.
- Inaugurating the Ashok Stambh at the Gora Bazaar crossing.
- Visiting Moolihamau village to inspect a park developed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
- An evening session with booth-level workers in the Unchahar Assembly constituency, followed by an overnight stay at the NTPC guesthouse in Unchahar.
