Rahul Gandhi Meets New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon

Rahul Gandhi Meets New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon to Discuss Bilateral Ties

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, met with visiting New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on Tuesday to discuss strengthening India-New Zealand relations.

The meeting follows a significant bilateral summit on Monday between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Luxon, where the two nations signed an ambitious defence cooperation pact and committed to enhancing ties in the Indo-Pacific region.

Gandhi’s engagement with Luxon focused on deepening bilateral connections, building on Monday’s momentum when Modi raised concerns about pro-Khalistani activities in New Zealand and both leaders vowed to counter such elements.

The Modi-Luxon talks yielded six agreements spanning education, sports, agriculture, and climate change, alongside plans for a defence industry roadmap. Luxon, on a five-day visit, also addressed the Raisina Dialogue on Monday, underscoring New Zealand’s growing strategic partnership with India, including FTA negotiations launched Sunday.
