Rahul Gandhi Court Drama: Case Delayed Again
Rahul Gandhi's court case delayed to August 25 in Sambhal.
A Sambhal court has deferred the hearing of a case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to August 25, legal sources report. The postponement occurred as the court in Chandausi, Sambhal district, paused proceedings due to bar association election nominations, said Additional District Sessions Judge (ADJ-II) Aarti Faujdar.
Gandhi’s lawyer, Sagir Saifi, told PTI that court activities were halted on Friday due to the nominations, causing the delay. The case arises from a petition by Hindu Shakti Dal president Simran Gupta, who alleges Gandhi made offensive remarks on January 15, saying, “Our fight is not with the BJP-RSS, but with the State of India.”
Gupta argues the statement insults India’s citizens and democracy, sparking widespread controversy. He previously contacted the Sambhal District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police without success, leading him to file the case on January 23.
