Rahul Gandhi Appeals to Railway Minister for Rae Bareli Stop on Rajdhani Express

Rahul Gandhi requests Rajdhani Express stop at Rae Bareli for better local access.

Congress leader and Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi has formally requested Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to introduce a stop for the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express at Rae Bareli junction, addressing a long-standing demand from his constituency. In a letter dated September 3, 2025, Gandhi highlighted that the train, passing through Rae Bareli, lacks a halt, creating significant inconvenience for residents seeking efficient travel to New Delhi and other destinations.

Gandhi specifically urged the inclusion of stops for train numbers 20503/20504 and 20505/20506, emphasizing that a brief halt would greatly facilitate travel for his constituents. “The people of my parliamentary constituency have repeatedly requested for a brief halt, particularly to facilitate travel to New Delhi,” he wrote, noting that the demand has persisted unresolved for years.

The request was corroborated by Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma, a close associate of Gandhi, who confirmed the letter’s submission to the railway minister on September 5. The appeal underscores Gandhi’s commitment to addressing local infrastructure needs, aiming to enhance connectivity for Rae Bareli, a key political stronghold for the Congress party.

The proposed halt could significantly improve access to high-speed rail services for residents, aligning with broader efforts to improve regional transportation and meet the pressing needs of the constituency.
