Raghav Chadha Nominated For Indian Parliament Delegation To IPU Meet In Uzbekistan
Chadha joins India’s delegation for global young parliamentarians conference.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been nominated to represent the Parliament of India at the 12th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from September 4 to 6. Chadha expressed gratitude for his selection and highlighted the significance of the international parliamentary forum.
In a post on X, Chadha noted that he was honoured to represent the Indian Parliament at the conference and thanked the Vice President of India for nominating him to the delegation. The conference brings together young legislators from different countries to discuss issues affecting younger generations and the wider global community.
The theme of this year's conference is "Reclaiming human rights, justice and dignity for all in turbulent times." Discussions are expected to focus on youth rights in conflict situations, digital rights and online safety, climate resilience and justice, and economic opportunities for young people.

Chadha also highlighted India's position as the world's largest democracy and its young population, noting that the country's Parliament has both experience to share and lessons to learn from other legislatures. He linked the parliamentary engagement with India's broader relationship with Uzbekistan following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent bilateral visit to the country.
The IPU, founded in 1889 and headquartered in Geneva, is an international organisation bringing together 180 member parliaments and 15 associate members. The organisation provides a platform for parliamentarians to exchange views and work on issues related to democracy, human rights and international cooperation.
The IPU has also introduced measures to encourage greater participation by young lawmakers. Since 2018, parliamentary delegations that bring young MPs to IPU Assemblies have been eligible for additional votes and speaking time, reflecting the organisation's efforts to strengthen youth representation in parliamentary discussions.
