Punjab Police Seize 1.8 Kg Heroin And ₹3.9 Lakh After Busting Drug Network
Punjab police recover heroin and cash after busting drug network.
In a significant anti-narcotics operation, Fazilka Police in Punjab have busted a drug trafficking network and recovered over 1.8 kilograms of heroin along with ₹3.9 lakh in suspected drug proceeds. The operation, carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Cell, led to the arrest of three individuals allegedly involved in the supply and distribution of narcotics in the region.
According to Fazilka Senior Superintendent of Police Gagan Ajit Singh, the action was initiated based on specific intelligence inputs received on June 21. Acting swiftly, police teams intercepted two suspected traffickers identified as Prabhjot Singh and Jaspreet Singh, both residents of Mahatam Nagar Colony in Fazilka.
During the initial search, authorities recovered 1 kilogram of heroin and ₹3.9 lakh in cash, which officials believe to be proceeds from illegal drug trade activities. Following the seizure, a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and both suspects were taken into custody for detailed interrogation.

Further investigation reportedly led police to a third accused, Gurdeep Singh, who was arrested from the Jalalabad area. Acting on disclosures made during questioning of the first two accused, officers conducted follow-up raids that resulted in the recovery of an additional 805 grams of heroin, bringing the total seizure in the case to more than 1.8 kilograms.
Police officials said the arrested individuals are believed to be part of a wider drug distribution network operating across the region. Investigators are now working to trace both the supply chain upstream and the network of local distributors linked to the racket, including financial trails connected to the seized cash.
Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing and further arrests are likely as enforcement agencies expand their probe into the broader narcotics network operating in the area. Officials also emphasized that efforts are being intensified to dismantle drug trafficking operations across Punjab.
