Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav Holds Law and Order Review Ahead of Festive Season
Meeting focuses on counter-terrorism, organised crime, and proactive policing across Punjab districts.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav chaired a high-level law and order review meeting in Amritsar on Monday, focusing on counter-terrorism strategies and dismantling organised crime networks. The meeting, attended by senior officers including the Additional DGP of the Anti-Gangster Task Force, ADGP of Counter Intelligence, and commissioners and SSPs from Amritsar, Batala, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, and Tarn Taran, underscored proactive measures to ensure public safety as the 2025 festive season approaches.
Yadav emphasised the need for heightened vigilance and intelligence coordination to address emerging challenges in the border region. The discussions covered operational preparedness, joint action plans, and community engagement initiatives aimed at maintaining peace. “Special emphasis was laid on proactive policing and intelligence coordination,” Yadav posted on X, highlighting the strategic focus on disrupting criminal networks and countering potential terror threats in Punjab, a state historically vulnerable to cross-border security concerns.
The meeting addressed specific regional dynamics, particularly in the sensitive Border Range, which includes Amritsar and nearby districts. Officers were directed to intensify visible policing and ensure seamless inter-agency coordination to create a secure environment for citizens during the upcoming festivities, including Diwali and other major celebrations that draw large crowds. This comes amid ongoing efforts to curb gang-related activities and strengthen border security in response to evolving threats.
