Punjab Deploys 19,000 ASHA Workers to Drive Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna Enrolments Across Villages
Punjab's 19,000 ASHA workers drive door-to-door enrolments under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna scheme.
The Government of Punjab has deployed over 19,000 ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers to strengthen last-mile healthcare access and accelerate enrolments under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY). The large-scale mobilisation also includes around 900 facilitators supporting the drive across villages and towns.
Under this initiative, ASHA workers are conducting door-to-door outreach, each covering nearly 1,000 residents and about 250 households. Their role includes spreading awareness about the scheme, guiding families through the enrolment process, and assisting them at Seva Kendras and Common Service Centres to ensure smooth registration and verification.
Officials said this grassroots approach is helping the scheme reach households directly, particularly in rural areas where access to information and healthcare services can be limited. By combining awareness with on-ground assistance, the government aims to eliminate confusion and delays in enrolment.

The impact of the campaign is already visible, with nearly 10 lakh registrations recorded in the last 20 days alone. Authorities believe the consistent efforts of ASHA workers have significantly boosted the pace at which residents are being brought under the state’s healthcare coverage network.
Highlighting the objective behind the scheme, Balbir Singh said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to ensuring that no family suffers due to lack of affordable treatment. He emphasised that ASHA workers are playing a key role in delivering this promise directly to people’s homes.
The scheme continues to expand rapidly, with around 50,000 people enrolling daily and over 35 lakh Sehat Cards already issued. Backed by a ₹2,000 crore allocation in the 2026–27 Punjab Budget, the programme has already facilitated more than two lakh treatments worth ₹300 crore, including thousands of surgeries across critical healthcare sectors.
