Punjab CM Mann Transfers ₹52.20 Crore To Satkar Sakhis On Raksha Bandhan
Mann transfers honorarium to Satkar Sakhis supporting women across Punjab.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday transferred Rs 52.20 crore as Sanman Rashi to 1.37 lakh Satkar Sakhis on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, recognising their role in expanding the Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna across the state. The financial assistance was released during a virtual programme organised for the beneficiaries and scheme workers.
Mann credited the Satkar Sakhis with helping register more than 75 lakh women under the scheme and facilitating the transfer of financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries. According to the state government, 76.11 lakh women have been registered so far, while Rs 2,381 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 68.06 lakh women. The government has set a target of bringing 1 crore women under the scheme.
Under the initiative, Satkar Sakhis receive Rs 300 for every woman registered through their efforts. The Chief Minister urged eligible women who have not yet enrolled to register and avail themselves of the benefits. He also maintained that the scheme would continue as long as the AAP government remains in power in Punjab.

The scheme provides monthly financial assistance to eligible women aged above 18. According to Mann, beneficiaries receive notifications on their mobile phones regarding assistance of Rs 1,000, while Scheduled Caste women receive Rs 1,500. The money is transferred directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts, with the state government expecting around 97 per cent of women in Punjab to benefit.
The Punjab government has allocated Rs 9,300 crore in its budget for the scheme. Mann said the financial support was intended not merely as monetary assistance but also as a measure aimed at strengthening women's dignity and self-respect. The Raksha Bandhan disbursement was presented as a special instalment for women beneficiaries on the festival.
The latest transfer comes as the state government continues to expand the scheme's coverage and registration network. With more than 76 lakh women already enrolled and the target set at 1 crore, Satkar Sakhis remain central to identifying and registering beneficiaries across Punjab. The government has positioned the programme as a major women-focused welfare initiative.
