Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Criticises Congress Over Internal Disputes

Bhagwant Mann attacks Congress over alleged internal conflicts.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Congress, alleging that the opposition party is struggling with internal conflicts and is not focused on issues concerning the state. Mann claimed that Congress leaders are engaged in disputes over positions and power rather than working for Punjab’s interests.

Speaking exclusively to IANS, Mann criticised the Congress over its factional disputes and alleged that the party has become more focused on internal battles. He claimed that disagreements within the party have affected its functioning and accused Congress leaders of prioritising political positions over public concerns.

Mann further alleged that the Congress has been producing “dealers instead of leaders”, referring to his claims about disputes within the party in areas such as Sangrur, Barnala and Mansa. He questioned allegations that his government was influencing developments within the Congress and pointed out that internal decisions, including the appointment of leaders, were made by the party itself.

The Punjab Chief Minister also referred to recent protests and disagreements involving Congress leaders, including opposition to the appointment of Bhupesh Baghel as an observer for Punjab. He claimed that these developments reflected the party’s internal challenges, while asserting that his government remained focused on governance and development work in the state.

Addressing allegations related to examination irregularities, Mann denied that any paper leak had taken place in Punjab and accused the BJP of attempting to damage his government’s reputation. He clarified that the matter involved cases of digital cheating and said action had been taken against those responsible.

The remarks come amid visible factional tensions within the Punjab Congress, with recent activities involving former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, state Congress leadership and party workers drawing attention. Congress leaders have been holding meetings as part of efforts to strengthen the organisation ahead of the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.
