Pune’s Ganesh Visarjan Begins with Majestic Kasba Ganpati Procession

Kasba Ganpati leads Pune’s grand immersion processions on Anant Chaturdashi.

Pune commenced its annual Ganesh immersion processions on Anant Chaturdashi, marking the culmination of the 10-day Ganeshotsav festival with the revered Kasba Ganpati mandal leading the way. The vibrant procession, filled with the rhythmic beats of dhol tasha, saw participation from prominent figures, including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, and Minister Chandrakant Patil, who welcomed the flower-adorned palanquin carrying the Kasba Ganpati idol before it embarked on its journey through the city.

The Pune Police issued a detailed timetable to ensure smooth coordination, urging all five Manache Ganpati mandals—Kasba, Tambadi Jogeshwari, Guruji Talim, Tulshibaug, and Kesriwada—to begin their processions early to conclude within the day. This strategic scheduling aims to prevent the processions from extending into the next day, enhancing safety and efficiency. Union Minister Mohol expressed optimism about the timely execution, stating, “This year, mandals have decided to begin the processions early. I am sure that we will be able to end them in record time.”

The Manache Ganpati, Pune’s most revered Ganesh mandals, draw thousands of devotees and spectators, making the immersion processions a cultural highlight. The early start of the Kasba Ganpati procession, followed by the other four mandals, underscores Pune’s deep-rooted devotion and organizational commitment to this cherished tradition.
