Pune DJ Vehicle Crash Kills Youth; Four Held for Involvement
Truck hit procession; one dead, six injured; organizers and driver arrested.
A tragic accident in Junnar town, Pune district, resulted in the death of a 21-year-old youth and injuries to six others when a truck carrying a DJ music system crashed into a procession celebrating the birthday of former Zilla Parishad president Devram Lande.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, and police have arrested four individuals, including Lande, his son, the vehicle owner, and the driver, in connection with the event.
According to police reports, the procession was underway when the driver allegedly drove recklessly, ignoring the crowd ahead, and rammed into a group of participants, including a troupe playing cymbals.
The deceased, identified as Aditya Kale, was part of the troupe. Lande and his son, who organized the procession, initially fled the scene, prompting an angry crowd to demand immediate action. Authorities registered a case late Wednesday and apprehended the suspects that night.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about safety during public gatherings, emphasizing the need for stricter regulations on processions involving vehicles. Investigations are underway to determine further details.
