Pro-Pakistan Slogans Disrupt Bhadravati’s Eid Milad Festivities

A disturbing incident has rocked Bhadravati, a communally sensitive town in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, where pro-Pakistan slogans were allegedly raised during Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations on Monday night. A viral video circulating on social media purportedly shows a group of youths shouting “Pakistan Zindabad” during an event organized by a Muslim outfit in Bhadravati Old Town, prompting widespread concern and swift police action in a region with a history of communal tensions.
Shivamogga Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar confirmed the incident, stating that authorities are taking it seriously. “We are registering an FIR in Bhadravati and verifying the video’s authenticity, including where and when it was shot, and identifying those involved,” Kumar told reporters. He revealed that three police teams, led by inspectors, have been deployed to investigate, utilizing drone footage, CCTV recordings, and videos captured by the police’s own video team. “Strict action will be taken once the facts are established,” he assured, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
The incident has drawn sharp condemnation from political leaders. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi denounced the mindset behind such slogans, calling it unacceptable and urging accountability. Chikkaballapura BJP MP K. Sudhakar linked the event to a broader pattern, alleging that anti-national elements have been emboldened under the Congress-led state government. He referenced a similar incident of pro-Pakistan sloganeering in the Vidhana Soudha corridors two years ago, suggesting a failure to curb such activities.
