Priyanka Gandhi Joins Bihar’s Voter Adhikar Yatra
Priyanka joins Rahul in Bihar yatra
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined her brother, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, in the ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar’s Supaul district on Tuesday, bolstering the INDIA bloc’s campaign against alleged electoral irregularities. Accompanied by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, and other alliance leaders, they waved to enthusiastic crowds from atop an SUV during the yatra, which resumed after a day’s break.
The 16-day, 1,300-km yatra, launched on August 17 from Sasaram, protests the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral rolls, which Rahul Gandhi has called an “institutionalized attempt to steal votes” for the BJP-led NDA. The campaign, set to conclude with a mega rally in Patna on September 1, has already covered Gayaji, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Munger, Katihar, and Purnea, with plans to traverse Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, West Champaran, Saran, Bhojpur, and Patna.
At a press conference in Araria on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi emphasized the INDIA bloc’s unity ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, promising a joint manifesto. “All constituents are ideologically and politically aligned, working with mutual respect. The results will be fruitful,” he said. The yatra, supported by leaders like CPI(ML)’s Dipankar Bhattacharya and VIP’s Mukesh Sahni, aims to highlight voter rights issues. Priyanka’s participation, coinciding with Hartalika Teej, is expected to energize the opposition’s outreach in North Bihar, a key electoral battleground.
